OUR STORY
The Sea Dragon Rum Distillery was set up in the summer of 2014. The idea came to the Coles Family after holidaying in the Caribbean, on the island of Jamaica. After drinking a few rum cocktails it was decided that it would be good if we could distill rum in Wales, so after some research, about what went into making a quality rum and were we could source the main ingredient 'molasses'.
We soon discovered the type of distillery we needed did not exist, there was nothing out there that could make the type of rum we wanted, a smooth drinking rum with plenty of character.
The still design has two huge columns and a boiling pot, capable of making over 9,000 bottles each week and is the biggest craft distillery in Wales.
So why Sea Dragon?
This wonderfully smooth rum is hand-crafted using traditional methods at the Coles distillery in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, an area of outstanding beauty rich in folklore, myth and legends.
The county's coat of arms was the inspiration for Sea Dragon Rum, depicting a Welsh Dragon on one side and a Sea Horse on the other, legend has it the Sea Horse has mystical powers and is considered a sign of courage and good luck.
The essential spirit of these mystical creatures, the proud roar of the Welsh Dragon and the delicate and gentle nature of the Sea Horse, is wonderfully reflected in Sea Dragon Rum, created with secret recipes, passion and a touch of magic.
